About the Tourism Center

Since 1986, the University of Minnesota Tourism Center has been a source of education and research for Minnesota, the United States, and many countries. Similar Centers exist across the U.S. The Tourism Center conducts tourism research and provides education and outreach programs for the tourism industry, community groups and students.

Identity

The Tourism Center is a collaboration of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences and the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

Funding

True to its land grant mission, the primary source for Tourism Center operations continues to be provided by the state and federal government. In addition, the Carlson Endowment provides part of our revenue, as do research contracts. Gifts are graciously accepted—learn more about supporting the Tourism Center.

People

Experienced personnel with diverse interests and expertise are available to develop and implement projects that answer critical questions for your destination, community, or business. Besides the competent staff, the Center has University affiliates (.pdf) across 11 departments interested in tourism research and education as well as the support of Extension Educators. In addition, the Center is guided by an industry Advisory Committee who meets quarterly.

Location

Nestled within the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota, the Tourism Center enjoys a small campus feel in a bustling metropolitan environment of Minneapolis - St. Paul.
